Mark Ramskill: Manager,
Trainee I.V (Internal Verifier)
I have 20 years experience in the Construction
industry. From machine operative to Management, I am now a
qualified advanced plant instructor and assessor. My specialist
area is Health and Safety advice and training.
I am working towards a NEBOSH Diploma in Construction which
has given me many new exiting challenges to explore within
the Health and Safety Construction Sector.
Being an enthusiastic,
hugely motivated professional with a passion for quality,
demand led training and development, I lead a team of dedicated
staff who share my passion of providing a quality service.
I make it my mission to deliver training as cost effectively
as possible whilst maintaining quality customer care. A large
part of my role is accessing funding to enable us to deliver
subsidised training, thereby supporting organisations in upskilling
the workforce as cost effectively as possible.
I have 15 years
experience in the Construction Industry and have worked for
Birkwood for 5 years working from Plant Operator to Instructor.
I share the passion and ethos of Sally and Mark and am proud
to be a member of such a successful company. The company has
pushed me to achieve levels of qualifications I could only
have dreamed about.
Darren won an award in May 2008 in recognition of the way
he overcame ill health and significant adversity to carve
out a career as a plant instructor/assessor. He won the individual
title for the Construction, Planning and the Built Environment
category in the CoLaS Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2008
I was involved with the
set of Birkwoods NVQ centres which is now a well established,
ever expanding business. Currently I am overseeing quality
issues and supporting ongoing staff development. I have a
wide experience in operative, craft, technical, supervisory
and management development with a proven track record as a
Chief External Verifier for two awarding bodies.
Dave Lodge –
Assessor – Trainee I.V (Internal Verifier) trainer/tester
I have been involved in Plant Training with various
awarding bodies for in excess of ten years and have been working
with Birkwood for the past 3 years on a part time basis delivering
both CPCS training/testing and also delivering Plant Operations
Level 2. I am currently working towards my Internal Verifier
qualification which will enable me to support Birkwood with
their robust quality control systems.
Liam Ledger: Assessor,
Trainer/Tester
I have been in the construction industry since the age of
16 when I served my apprenticeship at National Construction
College, Bircham Newton. I then spent several years working
with local construction and plant hire companies; I used this
experience in the industry to become a plant instructor and
assessor. The latter years of my employment have been in managerial
positions within the rail plant industry. I have only been
with Birkwood a couple of months but already have bought into
the ‘Birkwood ‘ brand and am looking forward to
being involved in the development of new courses which we
propose to launch later this year.
I have worked for Birkwood
since leaving college at 17 years old. I started as a site
labourer and have gradually added various pieces of Plant
machinery to my licence. Birkwood has invested a great deal
into my training and development. I am now working towards
becoming a plant instructor/assessor which is a very exciting
new challenge.
Jamie Green: Site
Supervisor, Trainee Assessor/Instructor
The largest part of my working life has been as a self employed
property developer managing projects. I joined Birkwood 3
years ago.
I supervise Birkwood’s groundwork team and am nearing
achieving my A1 assessor award with a view to joining the
rapidly growing training arm of Birkwood.
Tina Hurst: Training
Administrator/NVQ co-ordinator.
I have been with
Birkwood for 18 months. I find it exciting to be part of such
a dedicated forward thinking organisation.
On a daily basis I arrange paperwork for various courses.
I ensure the assessors have the appropriate paperwork, record
results and maintain an accurate paper trail for all courses.
Rebbeca Shaw: Administrator
I am currently at Sheffield University studying
Law but work for Birkwood 2 days a week. I register candidates
for NVQ qualifications, as well as dealing with general data
input and customer service.
