those concerned with the management of buildings who may need to
ensure that contractors are working safely. The qualification is
also appropriate for supervisors and managers working in other industries
such as utilities, and even broadcasting, where temporary workplaces
are a feature of their activities.
Objectives:
On completion of the course the delegates should be able to:
- Understand the main requirements and application
of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2007.
- Understand the factors to consider when carrying
out a site assessment; identify construction activity hazards,
assess the risks and recommend control measures.

control measures in the following areas: movement of people &
vehicles, manual & mechanical handling, work equipment, electrical,
chemical & biological, physical & psychological, working
at height, excavation work & confined spaces & demolition.
- Successfully carry out a safety inspection of
a construction workplace identifying hazards, recommending control
measures and preparing a management report.

The qualification is divided into three units, each of which is
assessed separately:
- Management of health and safety (NGC1)
- Managing and controlling hazards in construction
activities (NCC1)
- Health and safety practical application (NCC2)
Training
Method:
Units NGC1 and NCC1 are taught units each assessed by a two-hour
written examination. Candidate scripts are marked by external examiners
appointed by NEBOSH.
Unit NCC2 is assessed by a two-hour practical examination to test
the application of taught health and safety principles in a construction
workplace. The practical examination is internally assessed by the
course provider and must be marked by an experienced and qualified
safety professional.
The NEBOSH accreditation for this course is
held by Site Safety Training.
